Mira do Ó Arinto 2021: A Crisp, Vibrant Taste of Portugal’s Coast

Portugal’s white wines are having a moment, and Mira do Ó Arinto 2021 is a perfect example of why. This refreshing, mineral-driven white comes from Bucelas DOC, a small but historic wine region near Lisbon, where the Arinto grape thrives in limestone-rich soils and coastal Atlantic breezes.

Why Arinto?

Arinto is one of Portugal’s most important white grapes, known for its high acidity and aging potential. While many Arintos are blended (often with Fernão Pires), Mira do Ó is 100% Arinto, showcasing the grape’s pure, vibrant character.

Thanks to its racy acidity and mineral freshness, this wine pairs beautifully with:

Seafood: Oysters, grilled fish, ceviche, or Portuguese ameijoas à Bulhão Pato (clams in garlic sauce).

Light appetizers: Goat cheese, fresh salads, or sushi.

Summer dishes: Perfect with grilled vegetables or a chilled gazpacho.

Tasting Notes

Lemon colour with green hues. Aromas of citrus, pear and white peach with additional layers of lemon grass and almonds compose a complex and expressive nose. The palate is medium-bodied, quite rich and intense with superior dry extract balanced by a refreshing acidity. Ageing on lees noticeable in the smooth texture and nutty aromas in the lingering finish. A beautiful Arinto, layered and intense, that will shine at the table pairing with seared red tuna or grilled octopus.

Score: 15/20 (Fine wine, impeccable balance and superior aromatic complexity)
